Our Philosophy

Children’s Universe Daycare Inc., believes that CHILDREN are entitled to opportunities that support their emotional, social, creative, cognitive and physical growth and development in an environment that fosters active learning, autonomy, freedom, multiculturalism and a sense of responsibility and order.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS have the primary responsibility for the care and education of their children. They also have the right to pursue financial security, further education and/or personal fulfillment. Parents/guardians are entitled to control the operation of the child care program within the legal framework, and be involved in and informed of the daily life of the centre as an integral part of their child rearing experience. The centre will support parents’/guardians’ participation in their children’s early learning and development.

OUR STAFF members have chosen their work because of a belief in the importance of the task and suitability of their skills and education, as well as a strong commitment to the development of children. Staff are entitled to open communication, performance reviews, recognition of the value of their work, opportunities for professional development, and direct input into making decisions.

Children’s Universe will offer a warm, creative, and nurturing environment, which enables children to grow and develop as unique and healthy individuals. Our focus is on development and enrichment of the « whole child » which involves meeting the developmental needs of every child as he or she grows socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically. Children learn to respect and appreciate themselves as well as others and the world around them. We believe that parents are the child’s first teachers and so we strongly encourage parent involvement.

Daily activities encourage positive growth through a combination of teacher-initiated and child-initiated activities. The curriculum is based on a multi-disciplinary thematic approach to learning. Children learn through unstructured play as they create, construct, and consider through meaningful experiences. We do a lot of playing, reading, singing, creating, sharing, and basic communication through active play with one another. Children sharpen their senses, perceive patterns and relationships, classify, compare and organize their world through our activities and materials.

Children’s Universe Daycare Inc., believes that an optimum early child care and education centre must support positive relations between children, families and staff. Such programs supplement and complement family care in a nurturing, learning environment that promotes non-sexist, anti-racist and ethical values while encouraging excellence.
